Naturopathic Nutrition

When an individual has a nutritional deficiency, this can affect every biological system within the body since correct nutrition is required for every living cell, the immune system, nerve cells, bones and the hormone system. If an individual has a nutritional deficiency either from an incorrect diet or an inability to absorb the nutrients, they will likely have related health concerns.

What’s it all about?

Naturopathy is a system of medicine which focuses on the prevention and treatment of illness using natural therapies such as herbal medicine, clinical nutrition, dietary modification and exercise. Naturopaths differ in the degree to which they use these depending on their personal approaches and areas of interest.

Naturopathy aims to support and facilitate the body’s natural healing processes.  Naturopaths in the UK do not provide a diagnosis of any conditions unless they are also medically qualified doctors, but we aim to identify and treat the underlying cause of ill health and to provide relief of symptoms.

As a Naturopathic Nutrition Advisor, Susan has specialised in the nutrition element of naturopathy.  Good nutrition is essential to health:- physical, mental and emotional.  Poor food choices can lead to deficiencies and, in turn, chronic conditions.

Many evidence-based scientific studies have found associations between food and illness.  These studies show that our food choices can help maintain good health and treat disease.

Our bodies are also exposed to toxins from environmental and chemical pollutants, genetic factors and stress from lifestyle; many individuals are not absorbing sufficient vitamins and minerals from their diets despite adequate food intake.

Susan’s approach to naturopathic nutrition is evidence-based and relies on traditional knowledge and scientific clinical trials to formulate your treatment protocol.  Naturopathy can be used either as an alternative to pharmaceutical drugs and treatment or complementary.

A healthy lifestyle is also an essential component of the naturopathic approach, and each person is considered individually. Education and encouraging self-responsibility is also part of the naturopathic approach. The primary goal of a naturopath is to establish and maintain optimum health and wellness. Regardless of the client’s level of health or disease, the naturopathic practitioner strives to increase the level of health and wellness.

Each treatment protocol is customised to suit your needs and lifestyle. Even if you don’t have a specific medical condition, dietary improvements can help you achieve more energy and vitality and help prevent disease.
